RBS Group oversaw the design, project management, and implementation of scope changes for the construction of new hockey fields at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whakarewa i Te Reo Ki Tūwharetoa in Taupō. Acting on behalf of the client, we managed the full tender process and coordinated all aspects of delivery to ensure the project met the kura’s expectations and long‑term needs.

During pre‑tender investigations, we identified that the site had previously housed old buildings and roads. This early discovery allowed for accurate scoping and a smooth tender process with no variations. Ground conditions consisted of hard pumice mixed with topsoil and remnants of former structures, all of which were managed effectively during construction.

The project progressed to programme, with all deadlines met except for the laying of the turf, which was delayed due to offshore manufacturing constraints. Through proactive management, we were able to off‑hire fencing and site sheds during this period, minimising financial impact for the client. Despite the external delay, the overall project was successfully completed within three months.
