Waipahihi Marae Redevelopment: Taupō
In 2019, RBS Group undertook a comprehensive redevelopment of Waipahīhī Marae, delivering a wide range of upgrades to improve functionality, safety, and long‑term resilience. The project centred on a full kitchen extension and a soft refurbishment of the dining room, creating a more welcoming and practical space for whānau and community gatherings.
A significant portion of the work involved resolving multiple non‑compliance issues across the site. This included upgrading the sewerage system, addressing leaky‑building damage and areas of rot, improving the fire system, installing new handrails, updating switchboards, and enhancing underfloor ventilation to support a healthier, more durable building environment.
RBS Group partnered with local subcontractors throughout the project, ensuring the redevelopment supported the local workforce while drawing on specialist expertise where needed. This collaborative approach helped deliver a high‑quality outcome that strengthened the marae’s infrastructure and ensured it remains a safe, functional, and culturally significant space for future generations.
